Dylan Mintoff returns to Mdina Knights FC

Monday, 25 September 2017 10:46 AM
2016/17 Team Player of the Year Dylan Mintoff has returned to Mdina Knights FC after a spell with Premier League club Lija Athletic FC.

Dylan was at the Charles Abela Stadium to watch the Knights record a 3-0 win over Xghajra yesterday and is excited at what he has seen of the club in the early stages of the new season.

“The environment is great. It’s a friendly environment and the team is even more united this season, they’re working much better as a unit”.

Dylan says the decision to come back to Mdina was quite easy.

“To be honest, I refused a number of offers from other clubs. Not only a couple of third division clubs approached me, but a club in first division also. But I had given my word already that if things didn’t work out at Lija, I would come back to Mdina”.

“Mdina Knights FC is a good setup. They believe in me, and especially now with Renzo Kerr-Cumbo as Head Coach. Renzo was my Sports lecturer a number of years ago at MCAST, and with all things in place, I know I can be of good use to the club”.

Team Manager Neil Portelli said the club kept a keen eye on the 24-year-old despite his move to Premier League club Lija Athletic FC during the summer.

“We're very happy that Dylan has agreed to re-join the Knights. We had been monitoring his situation with Lija Athletic FC for a number of weeks now”.

“Our Head Coach had asked for midfield reinforcements and we are very happy to have delivered Dylan. I am very sure this signing will compliment an already competitive set-up”.

Dylan should be able to make his return to the pitch for Mdina Knights FC this weekend when the Knights face the undefeated Mellieha on Sunday 1st October at Charles Abela Stadium.
